The Power of Costume

Denver airport

When I returned to Denver after my winter holidays, this apocalyptic “War and Peace” mural was one of the first things I saw. [What is wrong with you, Denver International Airport?]

We definitely need an antidote to terrifying thoughts of tyranny and war, so I’m happy to share a few snapshots from the Denver Art Museum’s Star Wars and the Power of Costume exhibit.

Such exquisite textiles! My forthcoming novel involves textile art, enclothed cognition, and the power of costume, so this exhibit was everything to me.

The last photo shows Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia costume. It was deeply inspiring to see Fisher’s iconic white dress, and to be reminded that the princess we all loved fought her battles while wearing boots.
