Old Year Out

Happy New Year!

I didn’t realize this until a few years ago, but the first week of January is probably my favorite week of the year. I never make New Year’s resolutions right away on New Year’s Day: instead, I give myself about a week to reflect on the previous year. Then, (usually around Epiphany) I make plans for the year ahead.

2011 was a darn good year. I didn’t manage to knit an item every month or read a book every single week, as I’d planned. Nor did I actually finish my novel, as I’d planned. (I think that particular finish line is about 5 weeks away.) But I did begin my new life in Colorado, and I finally adopted a puppy. Just as I’d always hoped I would.
